Navigation is one of the most important elements of web page design, and it is often overlooked or not given much thought. A good designer will try to create more unique navigation styles, rather than just focusing on basic browser-safe type.
I’ve been trying to implement more creative navigation styles myself when working on client projects, and I had found myself looking up navigation inspiration and showcases. It really surprised me that there weren’t that many compared to other types of showcases, so I decided to add to the collection. Hopefully this showcase can help someone else now.
I personally love the examples with the sleek, “Web 2.0″ look, with tabs and special effects that make them look “real to life”. Share any other pieces of navigation inspiration you may find, or share your thoughts on the examples below.

Amazing! Good job finding menus that are beautiful and unique (most of these I had never seen before). This has definitely given me some ideas for my next nav menu. I think a really interesting follow-up for this post would be a photoshop tut on different styles (grunge, web 2.0) of menus and what to include in each. Thanks for the inspiration!
