Great review! It is good to see an appreciation for fine CSS design expressed here. In these schools of thought there is never enough CSS design examples. At CSSGallery.com we take this very same approach, we believe quality and quantity should go hand in hand. We believe in gathering the largest possible list of both CSS design and CSS galleries under one domain. Please enjoy!

@Robin Cannon - Hey Robin, If you publish your site on a css gallery that has a good search engine and it's well organized within categories, there are good chances that people will still see your website after it leaves the index which would be hard to happen if they don't categorize or have any search engine.

Really nice post. I've seen lots of posts that simply list CSS or design galleries, but it makes a great change to have a constructive critique as well.

I'm trying to decide which of the factors you mention would have the most impact. I think probably the initial display. At least based on my own experience, the most common reason to visit a CSS gallery is to browse what's new, see if there's anything inspirational. A lot of the time that means looking at the front page and seeing if anything leaps out. Categorising and searching are less of an issue.

Mind you, that kind of light touch approach probably leads to less valuable traffic. If you're looking for a CSS gallery to drive useful traffic back to your site, then getting visitors to find your site through categories and search is probably going to be more useful in the long run.

What do you think?
