Awesome article. It's amazing that with the heat mapping you can see that having the baby looking at the person browsing the page their site was directed to the babies face. Rather than the content where you would want it to be. Crazy how small changes like that can make a big impact on the people browsing a site.

Matthieu Dejardins: Don't know if you found an answer, but for anyone else wondering about this too:

Look into it via .htaccess and server side script. It's totally doable and page content can be focussed for SEO too!

Great post,

I'm coming from a testing and web dev background and agree with this. The web is a fast moving place - and we need to keep in mind the users are the focus, and not loose them as we move forward in developing great interactive sites!

That was a very good read! User-Centric design can definitely be hard to accomplish. It seems like it should be so simple, yet it's the direct opposite. Especially when working on web sites for clients with their own ideas, visions, etc. Thanks for the article!

Matthieu,

As long as you can find a way to determine the user's source to coming into the website before any webpage information is displayed, that could be possible. I've never done something like that before, though, so I'm not sure specifically how it could work.

Impressive article, nice job!
Question: from your expertise, can we say that it would be possible to create site-centric design at a landing page level if you have various audiences visiting your ecommerce website (e.g. one per Search Engine, one per category of products: B2B and B2C, one per top 5 affiliates...)?

Well done. It's fascinating to me that the online world is obsessed with the concept of user-centric or user-experience design. Shouldn't everything be user-centric regardless of delivery mechanism?

We use branding analysis and strategy for all of Incitrio's client work whether it's print or online because...when you design with the end user in mind you are absolutely guaranteed to produce the sales conversions and ROI the client is looking for. I can't imagine doing it any other way!
